Did you know that there’s a color our eyes can see that doesn’t technically exist? It’s called Stygian Blue, and it’s what’s known as a ‘chimerical color’. These are colors that can only be seen when you stare at a saturated feel of color. To see Stygian Blue, you have to stare at a field of bright yellow for a good long time, and then immediately look at another field of black. My dad is an amazing man who has faced more than his share of medical problems throughout my life. From debilitating chronic pain to a seizure disorder which threatened his life more than once.
At the end of May my dad was admitted to the hospital for abdominal pain and the next day went into surgery to remove a tumor the size of a softball from his colon. He was diagnosed with stage 3c Colon Cancer, and only a couple weeks ago began his first round of chemotherapy.
My family is barely making it in a home too small for them, with a van that has been broken down for months because they cannot afford to fix it. My mom works a lot, but has had to take a collosal amount of time off to care for my dad as he recovers from surgery and begins chemo.
As my daddy begins his fight against this disease, my family needs every bit of support they can get. I can’t be there with them, but I want to try to rally support in whatever way I can. I’ve set up a gofundme, and you can also donate directly to my paypal at maddie.stephens123@gmail.com.
